Dorothy E. Davis, 67, of Old Washington, died Tuesday (November 10, 2015) at the home of Betty Heskett, a niece who was like a daughter to Dorothy. She was born July 1, 1948 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Paul Davis and Celia "Kate" (Leeper) Davis. Dorothy retired after forty years with the former Guernsey Memorial Hospital, where she had worked as a scrub technician on the obstetrics floor. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Dennis; two brothers, Ed Davis and Don Davis; two sisters, Bonnie Savage and Patricia Ulry; and a special co-worker, Pat Hickenbottom. She is survived by her devoted niece who, as mentioned earlier, was like a daughter to her, Betty Heskett (& Larry Rossiter) of Old Washington; four granddaughters, Amber McFadyen of Byesville, Kayla Heskett of Cambridge, Katie Heskett of Old Washington, and Allee Heskett of Old Washington; a brother-in-law, Jim (& Darlene) Dennis; several nieces and nephews, including Linda Wright, Raymond Ulry, and Jeff Dennis who were very dear to Dorothy; a special aunt, Mabel Leeper; and several cousins. She is also leaving behind many very special friends, including Dr. Friendse and her beloved co-workers, especially Paul & Gina. Visitation will be held Friday (November 13, 2015) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Mark Slay officiating.
