Dorothy I. Gunn, 88, of Coshocton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at The Morrison House in Zanesville on December 28, 2017.
She was born July 6, 1929 in Londonderry Township/Guernsey County, daughter of the late Rev. Raymond Lyons and Freda (Calvert) Lyons.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was highly revered by her family.
Mrs. Gunn worked for seventeen years as an LPN at the former Cambridge State Hospital. She later retired from the Guernsey County Department of Human Services after thirteen years of service.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Coshocton.
She enjoyed reading and studying Bible passages.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Robert Gunn; and two brothers, Rev. Dwight Lyons and Ernie Lyons.
She is survived by her husband, Harold C. Gunn, whom she married September 17, 1947 – they recently celebrated seventy years of marriage; a daughter, Joyce Holliday of Coshocton; a brother, Donald (& Janice) Lyons of Newark; five grandchildren, Heath (& Aimee') Hayes of Cambridge, Heather (& Kyle) Hamilton of Coshocton, Rudy (& Abbie) Holliday of Westerville, Jeremy (& Stacey) Gunn of Washington State, and Abby (& Adam) Moon of Alabama; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her very dear loyal friend, Betty Frontz.
Visitation will be held Monday (January 1, 2018) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Tuesday (January 2, 2018) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dwayne Gibson officiating.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
