Dorothy M. Higgins

Dorothy M. Higgins, 88, of Cambridge, died Thursday (January 2, 2014) at her home with her family by her side. She was born January 15, 1925 in Charleston WV, daughter of the late William E. Atkins and Ora May (Butler) Atkins. Ms. Higgins retired from F.M.C. in Nitro WV, where she was a lab technician. She was a member of the Ninth Street United Methodist Church and the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. She is survived by two sons, Daniel L. (& Jo Anne) Higgins of Bethesda MD and David R. Higgins (& his life-partner, David Miles) of San Diego CA; three daughters, Diana Kay (& Wayne) Sicard of Cambridge, Donna Sue (& J.C.) Parry of Arlington WV, and Darlena May (& Bob) Brill of Remington VA; two sisters, Blanche Chevalier and Nancy (& Tom) Corrie both of Charleston WV; eleven grandchildren, Erin (& Gerald) Naus, Lori Sicard, Colin Sicard, Brian Sicard, Ian Brill (& Lauren), Sarah Brill, Peyton Brill, Kenny (& Tracy) Higgins, Becky (& Jon) Miskimon, Kimberly Weaver, and Deryck Weaver (& Lily) II; and five great-grandchildren, Colton Buzzell, Nora Higgins, Zach Miskimon, Abbie Miskimon, and Deryck Weaver III. No calling hours will be observed. No funeral services will be held at this time.
