Dorothy I. Howard of Cambridge passed away on July 20, 2018 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
Born in Woodland WV, Dorothy was 98 years old at the time of her death. Her long, happy life included serving as a nursing home cook for thirty-six years, as well as spending her time as an active member of the Free Methodist Church of Cambridge, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Eagles. Dorothy also ran a Navy restaurant during WWII and was a 1970 graduate of Kent State University with a dietician degree.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, George Franklin Russell and Cora (White) Russell; her husbands, William Buzzard Jr., Raymond Alth, and Robert Howard; a son, Junior L. Patterson; two step-daughters, Wanda Currans and Janis Buzzard; four brothers; and a sister.
Dorothy is survived by her son, John William Buzzard (& Terri Zapor) of Mansfield; her two daughters, Pamela (& Randy) Lyons of Quaker City and Eleanore (& Dave) Kendle of Mingo Junction; her brother, Junior Lee Russell of Woodsfield; her sister-in-law, Helen Longwell of Woodsfield; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Gloria Barnes.
Visitation will be held Monday (July 23, 2018) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Buckley officiating.
Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center, 1022 Carlisle Ave, Cambridge OH 43725.
