Dorothy McPeek, 84, of Cambridge, died Sunday (January 5, 2014) at the Ross Heart Hospital at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. She was born April 14, 1929 in Shadyside, daughter of the late Warren T. Jeffers and Della (Hunnell) Jeffers. Ms. McPeek was a school librarian, having worked in Wayne Michigan, Rolling Hills School District, and Pleasant City Junior High. She also taught sixth grade at Meadowbrook Middle School. In 1947, she graduated from Magnolia High School. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Education and M.A. in English from Kent State, and her Masters of Library Science from Case Western Reserve. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Ms. McPeek was a member of Daughters of Union Veterans and the Ohio Teachers Association. She was an avid reader and a proud Democrat. She was a backer of PBS and The Nature Conservancy. She was a collector of Cambridge Glass, Degenhart Glass, and Mosser Glass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Sharp. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Brown of Chicago; two sisters, Bernice Pratt of Marion and Helen Lowry of Cincinnati; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Saturday (January 11, 2014) at 10 a.m. with Evang. Woody Biggs officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery, Canton. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy's name to the Arthur G.
