Douglas L. Hayes

Douglas L. Hayes, 58, of Cambridge, passed away unexpectedly Saturday (May 9, 2015) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born June 5, 1956 in Cambridge, son of Barbara (Allen) Hayes and the late Lindy Hayes. Mr. Hayes had worked at NFI Industries of Cambridge as a spotter and driver. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Cambridge and bowled with the Elks Bowling League. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. His kind and compassionate soul created numerous memories with his many friends. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Hayes of Cambridge; a son, Brett Douglas Hayes of Columbus; a brother, Jeff (& Kim) Hayes of Galena; a sister, Debra (& Steve) Shedlock of Pickerington; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the love of his life, Cheryl Rapol, along with her son, Michael (& Jessica) Rapol and their children Charley and Dawson. Visitation will be held Wednesday (May 13, 2015) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Guernsey County Humane Society, 108A Franklin Avenue (PO Box 422), Cambridge OH 43725.
