Duane K. Grier, 88, of Barnesville, died Thursday (May 10, 2018) at Wheeling Hospital. He was born April 18, 1930 in Barnesville, son of the late Vaughn Grier and Hallie (House) Grier. A 1948 graduate of Barnesville High School, Mr. Grier retired from Owens Illinois Glass Company where he had been a foreman for many years. He enjoyed listening to country music, playing the stock market, and taking rides in the country. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester and Joe Grier; and a sister, Eileen Palmer. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Barbara (Starr) Grier, whom he married February 19, 1950; a daughter, Dianna (& James) Coad of St. Louisville; a sister, Mary Rice of Marietta; three grandchildren, Amy (& Michael) Crawford, Joshua Coad, and Ellen (& David) Willcox; and eight great-grandchildren, Brooke, Rebecca, Alyssa, Jaxson, Addisyn, Lillie, Halen, and Ryder. Visitation will be held Sunday (May 13, 2018) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held Monday (May 14, 2018) at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rodney West officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 70 W Streetsboro Street - Suite 201, Hudson OH 44236.
