Edgar W. Fisher

October 3, 1929 — February 21, 2010

Edgar W. Fisher, 80, of Cambridge, died Sunday (Feb. 21, 2010) at his home. He was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Cambridge, son of the late William and Bernice (Goins) Fisher. Mr. Fisher was a retired heavy-equipment operator for Columbia Gas. He was a 1947 graduate of Old Washington High School. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Cambridge, and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, singing in the choir and playing the guitar. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Fisher. He leaves three sons, Edgar W. (Marcia Kertel) Fisher Jr. and Anthony Fisher, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Paul Fisher of Lancaster; a daughter, Monique Fisher of Cambridge; a sister, Barbara Norman of Cambridge; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 1 p.m. Friday (February 26, 2010) with Pastor Lee Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. Military services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
