Edith "Edie" Shipula, 87, of Cambridge, died Saturday (June 20, 2009) at her residence. She was born March 2, 1922 in Guernsey County, daughter of the late John T. Tucker and Beulah I. (Butler) Tucker. Mrs. Shipula was a 1942 graduate of Byesville High School and was retired from Ekco Housewares, where she was an inspector. She married Michael John Shipula on October 2, 1948. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the bazaar committee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, who died on June 22, 2002; a sister, Betty Neff; and four brothers, Fred, Robert, Myron and Jack. She leaves three brothers, Ralph (& Marge) Tucker of Cambridge, Walter Tucker of Byesville and Clarence (& Karen) Tucker of Gallipolis; three sisters, Effie (& Dick) Tom of New Concord, Patty (& Ron) Imm of Cambridge and Margie (& Gale) Ruby of Byesville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (June 23, 2009) at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge.
