Edna Nicholson, known as "The Lawn Mower Lady", passed quietly Sunday (November 7, 2010) surrounded by her family at Countryview Assisted Living, where she had resided since February 2010. Edna was born at "Cherry Hill" Byesville. She later moved to Byesville Road and schooled at Trail Run & Byesville High School. She went on to work at The Cambridge Glass Factory, RCA, NCR, Kennedy's Bakery, Days Inn, and Cambridge Cleaning. Edna spoke at AVA about seeing the Shenandoah burn as it passed their house, seeing people in the gondola. She and her husband, Dave, loved to travel and belonged to the NCHA, plus square dancing groups. In later years, fishing at her dear friend Hennie's was a great gift to her. Edna also loved to quilt and crochet, which she passed on to her granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Nicholson; her parents, John Stevens and Ollie (Johnson) Stevens; a son, Larry David Nicholson; three brothers, Fred, Dennis, and Raymond Stevens; a sister, Lola Barthalow; a nephew, Bobby Barthalow; a grandson, Kevin Beardmore; and a great-grandson, Richard Ryan II. She is survived by her brother, Richard (Dolly) Stevens of Cambridge; her daughter, Jacqueline Beardmore of Cambridge; daughter-in-law, Judy Nicholson of Byesville; grandchildren, Brent Beardmore of Cambridge, Sherile Beardmore of Zanesville; Karen Costner of Cambridge; Mitchell (Shelly) Nicholson of Florida, and Michael Nicholson of Florida; great-grandchildren, Jacque (David) Berg of Cambridge, David Lee Fisher II of Zanesville, Mark Anderson of Gold Canyon AZ, Evan Beardmore of Cambridge, Heather (Steve) Gregory, Kyle, Erin, and Corey all of Newark, Jennifer and Shawn of Florida, Hillary and Landy Harrier of Cambridge; great-great-grandchildren, Richard and Diana Berg of Cambridge, Brandon Dickerson of Cambridge, Ashley and Austin Beardmore of Texas, Brianna Nicholson, Madison, Tatum, and Kendall Gregory all of Newark, Emily and Conner Anderson of Chandler AZ, Brea and Avery Anderson of California; and her second cousin, Walter Johnson of Ava. The family would like to express a special "thank you" to the staff of the Countryview Assisted Living and Hospice; and very special "thank you" to her minister, Reverend Don Glass, and our church "family". No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held Saturday (November 27, 2010) at 2 p.m. at the Freedom Worship Chapel on Weedon Avenue, Cambridge.
