Edward L. Ravak, 68, of New Smyrna Beach FL and formerly of Cambridge, died Monday (October 19, 2015) at his home. He was born May 12, 1947 in Zanesville, son of the late John Michael Ravak Sr. and Mary Alice (Feleski) Ravak. Mr. Ravak had worked in manufacturing management at the former NCR and later retired from RJF International of Marietta. He was also the former owner of the Bear's Den Restaurant. He was a member of Christ Our Light Parish of Cambridge. He was also a member of the first graduating class of the Guernsey Catholic High School in 1965. Mr. Ravak was a US Army veteran, having served honorably during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of VFW Post 2901, where he served as a trustee and had served three times as Post Commander. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie 386, AMVETS #70, DAV Chapter #28, Elks Lodge 448, American Legion Post 116, and a member of the Cambridge Country Club. Mr. Ravak has been bestowed with many honors through the years, including being named "Father of the Year" by Eagles Aerie 386 in 2012 and he was also named "Guernsey County Veteran of the Year" for 2012-2013. He was the first Eagle Scout of Troop 523 at the 7th Street Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Ravak and John Ravak Jr. He is survived by his wife, Ester "Mikki" (Modesitt) Ravak of the home, whom he married December 19, 2009; two sons, Thomas "Joe" (& Lolly) Ravak of Byesville and Edward L. (& Laura) Ravak II of New Concord; a stepson, Casey (& Cindy) Harriman of New Concord; a sister-in-law, Cecilia Ravak of Altamonte Springs FL; four grandchildren, Stephanie Ravak, Eric Ravak, Ethan Ravak, and Gage Ravak; two step-grandchildren, Paige Harriman and Lexus Harriman; and numerous cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where Eagles services will be held in the evening. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday (October 24, 2015) at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
