Edward F. Ruby, 95, of Cambridge, died Saturday (April 18, 2015) at the Greystone Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge. He was born in Noble County, on May 19, 1920, son of the late Simon Ruby and Audrey Franklin. He was raised by Simon's wife Bessie from the age of 10. Mr. Ruby was the former owner of Cambridge Memorials. He was a member of the Cambridge Masonic Lodge 66, a life member of the American Legion and he was an avid collector of almost anything. He also enjoyed prospecting for gems. Edward served in the Coast Guard during World War II and was on active duty in Alaska. He was protestant by faith. In addition to is parents, he is preceded in death by the woman he considered to be his second mother, Bessie Ruby; a daughter, Janet Ruby-Smith; a sister Freda and a brother, Walter. He is survived by his wife, Mary Medley-Ruby, whom he married on June 1, 1941; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce (Ralph) Clark of Hurricane, W.Va., and a brother, Dennis Ruby of Columbus.y Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Cambridge. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Myron Guiler officiating. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery in Cambridge.
