Edward Lawrence Thomas, 50, of Belpre, died Tuesday (June 7, 2016) at the Marietta Memorial Hospital after a long & courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 6, 1965 in Cambridge, son of the late Lawrence Paul Thomas and Betty June (Blair) Thomas. Mr. Thomas worked for the Parkersburg News & Sentinel, where he had been a copy editor/designer for sixteen years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Cambridge and the Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge. Mr. Thomas was a member of the Cambridge Church of God of Prophecy. He is survived by his wife, Denise (Drabik) Thomas, whom he married September 21, 1996; a sister, Diane Koenig of Cambridge; two nephews, Matt and Jake; two aunts, Sharon Kay Blair of IL and Carol McIntosh of Pebbles; and two uncles, Tim Blair of TN and Berlin Blair of Leesburg. Visitation will be held Saturday (June 11, 2016) from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda, at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City OK 73123.
