Ellanora R. "Micky" Alexander, 92, of Cambridge died peacefully at The Cardinal House at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday (June 7, 2011) She was born July 23, 1918 in Olean, New York and was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Kathleen (Luderman) McQuaid. She married Dr. Edward J. Alexander on September 2, 1940. Mrs. Alexander was a homemaker and a mother. She was a 55 year member of the Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, a charter member of the Guernsey Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as president of the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary. She loved playing bridge, and enjoyed her Friday afternoon lunches at Coney Island with her friends. She was a graduate of Conneaut High School. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and a 55 year member of the St. Benedict Catholic Daughters. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Edward J. Alexander on April 11, 1992; a sister, Rosemary Shanaberg; and her in-laws, Michael and Freda Alexander; brother-in-laws, Bob, George and Alex Alexander; sister-in-law, Marie Saliba. She is survived by her four children, Edward M. (Judy) Alexander of Cambridge, Adrienne Alexander of Grand Rapids, MI, Beverly (Larry) Beckwith of Westerville and Timothy J. Alexander of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Todd (Renee) Alexander of Beavercreek, Tad Alexander (Angie Gevas) of Columbus, Troy Alexander of Columbus, Brad (Jennifer) Beckwith of Lewis Center, Rob (Kerry) Beckwith of Hilliard, Lori Bruns of Miamisburg, Ashley (Anthony) Held of Columbus and Ross Alexander of Columbus; nine great grandchildren, Michaela Alexander of Barnesville, Amelia Alexander of Columbus, Demi, Nicole and Ty Alexander of Beavercreek, Michael and Danny Beckwith of Hilliard, Andrew and Mackenzie Bruns of Miamisburg; two nephews, John "Jack" Shanaberg of Mainz, Germany and James Shanaberg of Mentor-on-the-Lake. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict Church with Fr. Robert Borer officiating.
