Erma Carpenter, 85, of Quaker City, died Thursday (January 21, 2010) at her home. She was born December 15, 1924 in Brownsville PA, daughter of the late Frances (Hennessey) Hertzog. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker. She enjoyed camping and travelling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Ray Carpenter, who died July 10, 2007. They were married on April 26, 1975. Also deceased are three sisters; a brother; and a son. She is survived by two sons, Jim (& Sharon) House of Mentor and Dave (& Marilyn) House of Winterhaven FL; a step-son, Larry (& Donna) Carpenter of Claysville; a step-daughter, Rita Grizzard of Byesville; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday (January 26, 2010) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
