Ernest C. Roe Jr.

Ernest C. "Junior" Roe Jr., 82, of Lore City, died Saturday (September 12, 2020) at his home.

He was born July 3, 1938 in Salesville, son of the late Ernest C. Roe and Wilda (Warehime) Roe.

Mr. Roe had worked as a checker at Nickels Bakery for many years.  He also owned a construction company for several years.

He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church.

He enjoyed going to auctions and tinkering with wood projects.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Scott, and Howard Roe; a sister, Virginia Hyde; and a son-in-law, Dennis Wells.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. (Nicholes) Roe, whom he married December 16, 1955; four sons, Allen (& Robin) Roe of Lore City, Marlin Roe (Tammy Cunningham) of Cambridge, Mark (& Brenda) Roe of Salesville, and Paul (Sara) Roe of Cambridge; three daughters, Lavada (& Glenn) Roe of Salesville, Lois (& George) Hinkle of Lore City, and Carol Wells of Lore City; thirty-three grandchildren; sixty-seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (September 16, 2020) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City.  Graveside services & burial will be held Thursday (September 17, 2020) at 11 a.m. at Salesville Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Salesville Church of Faith Esther Circle, 119 Locust St, Salesville OH 43778.
