Esther Waneta Lashley

Esther Waneta Lashley, 91, of Quaker City, died Sunday (March 31, 2013) at Emerald Pointe, Barnesville. She was born October 2, 1921 in Barnesville, daughter of the late James Thompson and Lola (Yarnell) Thompson. Mrs. Lashley was a bookkeeper for Lashley Tractor Sales for many years. She was a member of the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school and Bible school leader. She was a 1939 graduate of Barnesville High School. Mrs. Lashley was a 4-H leader, a member of Good Cheer Circle, and a member of the Shenandoah Band & Athletic Booster Clubs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Robert Lashley, whom she married October 11, 1941; three brothers, James, Richard, and Dwight Thompson; and three sisters, Norma Phillips, Lois McFarlane, and Shirley Weir. She is survived by two sons, Gary (& Gloria) Lashley of Stone Mountain GA and Dennis (& Linda) Lashley of Senecaville; a daughter, Lu Ann (& Kevin) Stimpert of Minford; a brother, Dean Thompson of Canton; six grandchildren, Jeff (& Jeanna) Lashley, Ken (& Aimee) Lashley, Chris Lashley, Jessica Lashley, Zachary Stimpert, and Colin Stimpert; and seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Julie, Iris, Seth, Sarah, Sam, and Sean. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City. Additional calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (April 3, 2013) at 11 a.m. at the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Esther's name to the Kennonsburg United Methodist Church, 57599 Kennonsburg Road, Quaker City OH 43773.
