Ethel Mae (Kenworthy) Gibson, 82, of Indian Camp, died Saturday (November 12, 2011) at the Autumn Health Care Center of Cambridge. She was born March 8, 1929 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Fred Kenworthy and Bessie (Craig) Kenworthy. Mrs. Gibson was a graduate of Cambridge High School. She was an active member of the Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church, where she served as session treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She also served in the Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Indian Camp Grange for over fifty years and served as lecturer for over thirty years. She was also a presiding judge for the Knox Township Board of Elections. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, and making crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Gibson, who died January 29, 2009. They were married July 2, 1949. Also deceased is a brother, Johnny Kenworthy. She is survived by a son, Pastor Jim (& Kathy) Gibson of Indian Camp; a daughter, Joan (& Robert) Howell of Indian Camp; three grandsons, Benjamin James Gibson of Cambridge, Paul Jewett Gibson of Columbus, and Matthew Robert Gibson of Columbus; a brother, Willis Kenworthy of Columbus; a sister, Pauline Geese of West Lafayette; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (November 16, 2011) at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Cambridge, 725 Steubenville Avenue, with Rev. Marty Radcliff and Pastor Keith Leach officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions in Ethel's name be made to Hospice of Guernsey, Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
