Evelena G. Bowers

Evelena G. "Kricket" Bowers, 96, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (November 2, 2010) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born July 24, 1914 in Fayetteville NY, daughter of the late Orris Orman and Lena (McGee) Orman. Mrs. Bowers was a former assembly & supply worker for Akron Aircraft and later Pfluger Fishing Equipment. She was a member of the Cambridge Abundant Life Pentecostal Church of God of America. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert G. Bowers; two sons, Dr. Carl Bowers and Floyd Bowers; an infant daughter, Elenore Bowers; two brothers, Orris and Roy Orman; and six sisters, Viola Bailey, Gladys Vance, Ada Snyder, Harriet Mullins, Alice Thomas, and Genevive Jefferies. She is survived by a son, Ralph Bowers of Vandalia; two daughters, Gertrude Jean Cain of Fabens TX and Diana (& Fred) Short of Cambridge; a sister, Margaret Orman of Akron; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; approximately twenty great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday (November 3, 2010) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Martin Hennessy officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton.
