Evelyn J. Hessin, 96, passed away Wednesday (June 6, 2018) with family at her side.
She was born October 25, 1921 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Walter Fowler and Hazel (Wood) Fowler.
Evelyn was a 1940 graduate of Cambridge High School, a retiree from the former IGA where she had worked as a cashier for twenty-two years, a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church where she had served as a deacon, a member of the Red Hat Society, and Wing #4 Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing cards, going on car rides, shopping, reading, word search puzzles, reading the Bible, and loved time spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Siens, Richard Pitts, and William Hessin; a son, Larry Siens; a daughter, Sharman Milligan; and two brothers, Dr. Earl Fowler and Rev. Loren Fowler.
She is survived by a son, David (Carol) Pitts of Sanger CA; a daughter, Martha "Mitzi" Spencer of Cambridge; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (June 12, 2018) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Lester Bell officiating.
Burial will be at Halley's Ridge Cemetery, Ava.
