Evelyn Kaye Hoffman, 79, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at her home here in Cambridge.
She was born February 18, 1943, daughter of the late Eva (Neff) Byard.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Brent Hoffman, whom she married on February 24, 1962, and who passed away November 16, of 2018; a brother Bud Byard, and a sister, Joy Ingarra.
Kaye and her husband John were the owners of a local ice company, having worked together in the family business for many years. The most rewarding, yet difficult job in the world is said to be a great parent. This mom of three was full of heart, rearing "three beautiful children" as she used to say … Melissa aka Missy (Bill), Angela (Charles), and John C. She loved being a mother, first and foremost. Still worrying about, offering support, and flashing her unique blend of style, Kaye was a rare and extraordinary woman and mother. Kaye was a 1961 graduate of Cambridge High School.
She is survived by a son, John C. Hoffman of Cambridge; two daughters, Melissa aka Missy (& Bill) Hoffman of Mansfield and Angela (& Charles) Henry of Westerville; a brother, Shelton (& Linda) Neff of Marysville and a sister, Marlene Reynolds of Cambridge; many nieces, nephews and good friends; and her grand fur babies, Mercedes, Oliver, Daisy, Earl Joy, Smokey, Shadow, Kingsord, Avery, Aubrey, Kazmir, Givenci, Sangria, Aspen, and Mama Kitty.
Katie, as she was affectionately known by her husband of 58 years, J. Brent Hoffman (Donohue's Hilltop Ice) who we lost Nov 16, 2018, and will be missed and remembered by many. E. Kaye Hoffman will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. The family wants to offer a special thanks to Miriam Troyer and Carol Shinn. Your unwavering support and heartfelt willingness to serve helped us get through one of the most difficult times in our lives.
