Evelyn A. McConnell, 84, of Cambridge and formerly of Lore City, died peacefully Sunday (March 17, 2013) at her home. She was born July 14, 1928 in Lore City, daughter of the late George Ambro and Mary (Mazenko) Ambro. Mrs. McConnell had worked at Cambridge Glass, RCA, and Modern Decorating. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, country music, and family events. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She was a member of the Cambridge Post 2901 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. McConnell was a member of Christ Our Light Parish - St. Benedict Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nile R. McConnell, who died October 28, 1995; five brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by three children, Donald N. McConnell of Cambridge, Kenneth R. (& Nancy) McConnell of Cambridge, and Connie (& Steve) Bernard of Worthington; a sister, Elizabeth "Lib" Reynolds of North Canton; seven grandchildren, Kelly (& Paul) Dickerson, Brian (& Tabitha) McConnell, Courtney McConnell, Ashley (& Jason) Podany, Lindsay McConnell, Abbey Bernard, and Jonathan Bernard; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Thursday (March 21, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Lore City. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Evelyn's name to Christ Our Light Parish, 701 Gomber Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
