Evelyn K. Voorhies

Evelyn K. Voorhies, 93, of Byesville, died Monday (March 17, 2014) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born April 14, 1920 in Dennison, daughter of the late James Treherne and Jenny (Touvell) Treherne.

Mrs. Voorhies was a homemaker. She enjoyed dining out and going shopping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Voorhies; two daughters, Mary Ethel and Delores Elston; a son, Merritt Voorhies; five brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by seven sons, Don (& Mary Belle) Voorhies of Old Washington, John Voorhies of Columbus, Carl Voorhies of Florida, Ed Voorhies of Cambridge, Alva (& Nancy) Voorhies of Gnadenhutten, Seth (& Ruth) Voorhies of Byesville, and Bob Voorhies of Mansfield; two daughters, Donna (& Chuck) Scott of Byesville and Phyllis (& Bob) Kemmer of Buffalo; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday (March 20, 2014) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.

Burial will be at Old Washington Cemetery.
