Frances E. Blaine, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Friday (Sept. 23, 2011) at her home. She was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Wood River Ill., daughter of the late Allen and Mary (Baker) Fosha. Mrs. Blaine was a homemaker. She previously worked at the Western Cartridge Co. during World War II. She was also employed at the Beallsville B&P Corner Shoppe for several years. She attended East Alton-Wood River Community High School, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Beallsville and the Switzerland of Ohio Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. Her hobbies included sewing and quilting; she had made over 50 quilts for various family and friends. She loved to dance at the Westerner Club in Illinois, where round and square dancing were popular. Frances enjoyed traveling and would spend part of the year in Florida with her husband, John. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marion "Spud" Fosha; three sisters, Betty Federle, Kay Garrigus and Velma Sandbach. Survivors include her husband, John, whom she married July 21, 1943; two daughters, Sharon (Roger) Harper of Apple Valley Lake and Mary (Dale) Pennell of Cambridge; three grandchildren, James "Corky" Harper, T.J. Harper and Jennifer Francis; eight great-grandchildren, Heather R. Harper, Kayla Francis, Tanner Blaine Harper, Devon Francis, McKinzie L. Harper, Kylie S. Harper, Troy Francis, and John K. Harper; a brother-in -law, Marion Garrigus of Wood River Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (September 28, 2011) with Gus Andrews officiating.
