Dr. Frank Thomas Shively

Dr. Frank Thomas Shively passed away suddenly August 22, 2021 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Phaedra (nee Rangazas) Shively.

Frank was born October 31, 1933 in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Old Washington High School, received a BS from Oberlin College, an MS from the University of Rochester, and a Ph.D in particle physics from Yale University. He did research at Los Alamos National Lab and also worked as a consultant.  His hobbies included soccer, mountain climbing and tennis.

He was predeceased by his parents, Josephine (nee Pellicer) Shively and Richard Miles Shively; brothers, Richard Miles Shively, Jr. (Maravillas deceased), Joseph Pellicer Shively, John Robert Shively (Carolyn), and Robert William Shively (Joan).

He is survived by his sister, Josephine Shively Primbs (Charles deceased); and brother, Daniel Jerome Shively (Pamela); and brother-in-law, George Rangazas (Inga); nephews, Thomas Shively (Margaret), Edward Shively, Jamen Shively, Robert Shively (Caroline), Joseph Shively (Catherine), Jon Shively (Teresa), Richard Primbs (Mai), Daniel Primbs, William Primbs (Marcia) and James Primbs (Keri).  Also by nieces, Joyce Kopidakis, Vassiliki Rangazas, Jennifer Bocchicchio (Brian), Laurie Hubach (Daniel), Marie Highfield (Mark), Carolyn Sokol (Jeff), Maria Elgawarsha (Abdussalam) and Rosemary Walthinsen (Tim).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the burial service for Frank Shively on Saturday (October 2, 2021) at 12 p.m. at the Friends Cemetery, Quaker City OH, with Father Paul Hrezo officiating.
