Fred D. Burnett Jr., 90, of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Astoria Place of Cambridge.
He was born October 28, 1934, in Wichita Falls TX, son of the late Fred D. Burnett and Viola (Arnett) Burnett.
Mr. Burnett retired from Cambridge City Schools, where he had been a teacher of biology and general sciences for many years. He also spent eighteen years teaching science and coaching tennis in Wichita Falls. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, bowling, playing dominoes, and betting on the dogs in Wheeling.
He earned his master's degree from East Texas State University.
Mr. Burnett was a US Army veteran.
Waiting to greet him in heaven were his parents; three sisters; Estella Marie Arnett, Yvonne Griffith, and Freddye Mae Rhodes, and other beloved family members.
He is survived by two sons, Frederick T. (& Linda Denise) Burnett of Houston TX and Anthony Burnett of Wichita Falls TX; five daughters, Linda Love of Dallas TX, Shalanda Perkins of Columbus, Mea Williams of Katy TX, Akneca (& Brian) Brumfield of Okinawa, Japan, and LaToya Bahr of Cambridge; one sister, Jennie Alsobrooks of Gary, In; eighteen grandchildren; twenty- two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Thorn- Black Funeral Home in Cambridge on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 11AM until the time of the service at 1PM. Pastor Randolph White will be officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
