Fred Earl "Bud" Moose, 85, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (February 13, 2009) at the Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born on June 1, 1923 in Cambridge, son of the late Fred M. Moose and Hazel (McConkey) Moose. Mr. Moose was a retired gravedigger for the City of Cambridge and retired in 1985 after twenty-six years of service. At the time of his retirement, he had dug approximately 5,670 graves or nearly one-third of the graves in Northwood Cemetery. He dug about half of the graves with just a pick and a shovel. He was also a former employee of Cambridge Glass. Mr. Moose was a former member of the Eagles Aerie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Moose; and a sister, Bertha Link. He is survived by his former wife, Doris Moose of Cambridge; a daughter, Rita (& Curtis) Larrick of Pleasant City; two brothers, Roger (& LaWanda) Moose of Galloway and Leroy (& Peg) Moose of Cambridge; three sisters, Nora Tolbert of New Philadelphia, Pauline Ruby of Cambridge and Doris June Abel of Cambridge; five grandchildren, Hope (& Justin) Thress, Heather Bennett, Tiffany Larrick, Travis Larrick and Alexis Larrick; three great-grandchildren, Justin Thress II, Kadee Thress and Isaiah Thress; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Wednesday (February 18, 2009) at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
