Freda C. (Tomey) Wilfong-Hoffman, 91, of Cambridge and formerly of Elm Grove & Bellaire, died Saturday (August 29, 2009) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, following a brief illness. She was born March 20, 1918 in Tallmansville WV, daughter of the late Jessie L. Tomey and Flossie S. (Riggs) Tomey. Freda was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church of Cambridge and was a fifty-five year charter member of FOE #386 of Cambridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arley D. "Jack" Wilfong, whom she married on June 22,1935 and who died on January 29, 1973; her second husband, L.Z. Hoffman, who died on April 21, 1990; a daughter, Shirley Wilfong-Heddleson; a step-son, David Hoffman; a sister, Sylvia Stewart; and a brother, Shelby Tomey. She is survived by two daughters, Loretta (Frank) Wilfong-Thompson-Heddleson of Cambridge and Carolyn (Tom) Wilfong-Hare of Maumee; a step-son, Danny (Gaylynn) Hoffman of Colerain; a sister, Mrs. Kelcel (Thelma) Westfall of Elm Grove WV; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where Eagles Ladies Auxiliary services will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (September 2, 2009) at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Sperry officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church (Chair Lift Project), 605 Jefferson Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
