Frederick "Fred" Alan Hyde, 89, of Summerfield, died Monday (December 28, 2009) at his home. He was born April 10, 1920 in Fairview, son of the late Earl "E.W." and Edna (Smith) Hyde. Mr. Hyde was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Hendrysburg Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hyde was a US Army veteran, having served during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Howell and Margie Rife. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Fay (Roe) Hyde of the home, whom he married August 2, 1963; a brother, Richard (& Miriam) Hyde of Barnesville; a sister, Helen Morgan of Savannah GA; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held on Saturday (January 2, 2010) at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Neff officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
