Gene Boyd Thompson, 94, of Barnesville, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Barnesville Hospital.
Gene was born on September 28, 1928, in Barnesville, a son to the late Dewey and Rebecca (Boyd) Thompson.
Gene was a 1946 graduate of Barnesville High School. He retired from Broughton's Dairy where he delivered milk for thirty-six years. Gene was a member of the Circle of Angels at the Quaker City United Methodist Church and the Broughton Union. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling to Florida and dowsing for water.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Navale (Flood) Thompson, and his second wife, Wilma (Shaffer) Hunt-Gregg-Thompson.
Gene is survived by his son, John (Marsha) Thompson of Cambridge, his daughter, Cynthia (Rick) Hillyer of Quaker City, his two step-daughters, Robin (Ron) Duvall of Bethesda, and Beverly Ault of West Lafayette, OH, his sister, Patty Bailey-Snyder of Granville, OH, four grandchildren, Michelle (Cory) McQuain, David (Tara) Thompson, Clint (Michelle Paisley) Hillyer, and Jody Hillyer (Jason Dick), and five great-grandchildren, Mason, Bryson, Evan, Jocelyn Navale, and Javin, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 11AM-2PM, with the service to immediately follow ay Quaker City United Methodist Church with Rev. Rodney King officiating. Burial will be held at Friends Cemetery.
