Geneva R. Bowman

Geneva R. Bowman, 99, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (June 24, 2016) at the Cardinal Place. She was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Charles McKahan and Prudence M. (Hunt) McKahan. Mrs. Bowman worked at Superior Model for many years. She also worked for 20 years at the Arizona Contractor Center. Mrs. Bowman worked until she was 94 years old. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Cambridge Church of Christ and also the Southwest Church of Christ. Mrs. Bowman was a 1935 graduate of Brown High School and also a graduate of Bliss Business College. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bowman, who died Jan. 29, 1994. They were married on Jan. 11, 1941. Also deceased are a brother, James; an infant sister, Wilda; and a great-grandchild, Matthew Taylor. She is survived by two sons, Bill (Doris) Bowman of Avondale Ariz., and Robert Bowman of Old Washington; a daughter, Martha (Jerry) Starr of Cambridge; a sister, Dora Denver of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Sheryl (Steve) Taylor, Diane (Doug) Lyons, Scott (Heather) Bowman, Craig Bowman, Gregory Bowman, Justin (Jennifer) Bowman and JD (Julie) Starr; and 14 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., with services Tuesday (June 28, 2016) at 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Cambridge, with Evangelist John Keith officiating. Burial will be in Guernsey County Memory Gardens, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey, Inc. and Cambridge Church of Christ.
