George R. Elias

George R. "Pappy" Elias, 82, of Salesville passed away Tuesday (May 15, 2018) at his home.

He was born January 23, 1936 in Barberton and was the son of the late Leo and Rose (Hanna) Elias.

Mr. Elias retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation as a mechanic, and he was a 1954 graduate of Manchester High School. He loved hunting, playing cards, telling jokes and loved all animals. He was a member of St. George Orthodox Church in Akron.

In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Norman and Nathan; two sisters, Betty Jacob and Eileen Hanna.

He is survived by his wife of eighteen years Beverly (Molnar) Elias whom he married January 21, 2000; one son David (Traci) Adkins of Alliance; five daughters, Michele (Sunny) Chong of Las Vegas, Nevada, Denise (Mark) Warner of Portage Des Sioux, Missouri, Lori (Doug) Hudgins of Coosada, Alabama, Stephanie (Scott) Cantley of Milan, Ohio, and Andrea (Matt Looney) Elias of Akron; two step-daughters, Candida (Brian) Riffle of Barberton and Cinthia (Scott) Stukovsky of Wadsworth; one sister Jerrie Elias of Stow; two sisters-in-law, Alice Elias of Manchester and Delores Elias of Barberton; fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Norton Baptist Church, 4239 S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Norton, Ohio 44203, with services to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Dwight Strickland officiating.
