George E. Knight

March 8, 1925 — September 18, 2006

George E. Knight, 81, of Cambridge, passed away Monday (September 18, 2006) at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born March 8, 1925 in Guernsey County, son of the late Ledlie D. Knight and Alva (Kesselring) Knight. Mr. Knight worked at Universal Pottery, Oxford Tile and Sunstone Corporation. He retired from Designers Accent, where he was an electrician. Mr. Knight was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded three Bronze Stars for his service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard. He leaves his wife, Ruth Ann (Valentine) Knight of the home, whom he married on January 1, 1947; three sons, Jimmie (& Dixie) Knight, David Knight and Randy (& Valerie) Knight all of Cambridge; a sister, Jewell Nadine Moorehead of Cambridge; five grandchildren, Misty Downerd, Jimmie Knight Jr., Christina Knight, Joshua Knight and Jordan Knight; four great-grandchildren, Kilee, Caleb, Mackenzie and Kacie; two step-grandchildren, Louie and Amy Stohovec; and two step-great-grandchildren, Angel and Lexi. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Friday (September 22, 2006) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
