George H. Montgomery, 88, of Antrim, died Friday (June 11, 2021) at Countryview Assisted Living
He was born January 9, 1933 in Antrim, son of the late Fred R. Montgomery and Irene (Kupfer) Montgomery.
Mr. Montgomery retired from Ohio Valley Coal Company #6 mine. He is a member of Antrim Presbyterian Church, United Mine Workers, and enjoyed stock car racing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, George Montgomery.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Lodge) Montgomery, whom he married on November 13, 1951; a son, Marty Montgomery of Byesville; three daughters, Cindy (Bill) Shaffer of Cambridge, Joanne (Charles) Baird of Salesville, and Juanita Vickers of Cambridge; a brother, James (Helen) Montgomery of Freeport; a sister, Wilda (Bill) Stone of Cambridge; nine grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Baird, Eric Baird Sr., Amy (Eric) Stonecipher, Travis (Nicole) Baird, Megan (Allen) Lyle, Sheena (Scott) Clipner, Cindy Evans, Chris Evans, and Ashley (Kyle) Hargreavs; fourteen great-grandchildren, Eric Jr., Ethan, Dylan, Kaylee, Miranda, Jessica, Taylor, Riley, Emilie, Elizabeth, Bexley, Braxton, Benjamin, and Mason
Visitation will be held Monday (June 14, 2021) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Antrim Presbyterian Church, where funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Merlin Wentworth officiating.
Burial will follow at the Antrim Presbyterian Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to either 1) Hospice of Guernsey, PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Antrim Presbyterian Church.
