George E. Shipe

George E. Shipe, 69, of Londonderry, died Tuesday (April 17, 2007) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born on January 30, 1938 in St. Clairsville, son of the late Joseph Ellis Shipe and Harriet Elsie (Wesley) Shipe. Mr. Shipe retired after forty-five years with the former Tri-State Asphalt Company. For the last several years, he concentrated his efforts on establishing the family company, Shipe Construction Inc., with his brother and son. He was a member of the Ohio Contractors Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-nine years, M. Irene (Marling) Shipe, who died on September 13, 2005; a grandson, Ben Lodge, who died on June 11, 2006; and a brother, Rolland Shipe, who died in 2004. He leaves his children, Gaye (& Keith) Lodge of Winterset, Lisa (& Randy) Shoaf of Grove City, Joby (& Molly) Shipe of Londonderry and Debbie (& Phil) Millhon of Londonderry; nine grandchildren, Valerie, Michelle and Kevin (& Jess) Shipe, Chase Mayle, Christine and Michael Patterson, Liz (& Chris) Clarkston, Matthew and Kymberly Lodge; three great-grandchildren, Grace Marie Shipe, Ethan and Taylor Clarkston; a brother, Tom Shipe of Londonderry; and two sisters, Patricia Sanders of Key Ridge and Dorothy (& Jack) Hart of Columbus. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Friday (April 20, 2007) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to: The Guernsey Health Foundation, Palliative Care, 1341 Clark Street, Cambridge OH 43725.
