Georgia Louise Booth, 72, of New Albany and a native of Guernsey County, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3 (2024), at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus with complications from lung cancer and pneumonia. She is the daughter of the late George Harlan and Jenny Louise Booth of Kimbolton, Ohio. Siblings include Barbara Ann Dover of Alpharetta, Georgia; James Richard Booth of Kimbolton; Ray Harlan (Helen) Booth of Lancaster, Ohio; and Charles Linn (Jeanne) Booth of Columbus, Ohio. Her daughter, Lindsey, passed away in 2020. Others important in her life include a long-time partner, Tom McMillan of Florida; Julie Stovall of Columbus; and Charles "Buz" Sherman of Columbus. There are also multiple nieces and nephews in Guernsey County and in the Columbus and Alpharetta areas. Georgia was a 1970 graduate of Madison High School in Guernsey County. While in high school she was in the band, was a cheerleader, was named to several Homecoming and Prom courts and was considered an outstanding athlete. A graduate of The Ohio State University, she was a retired claims specialist with Ohio State Workers Compensation, with a long business career with other companies in the Columbus area. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge and an hour before the service on Saturday. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with Pastor Bracken Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Clearfork Cemetery.
