Gila Kay Gatrell

Gila Kay (Blackstone) Gatrell, 65, of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday (December 19, 2017) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, surrounded by her family.

Kay was the first baby to be born at Guernsey Memorial Hospital on May 6, 1952 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Edward and Isabel Blackstone.

Kay enjoyed vacationing, gambling, sewing, gardening, and the outdoors. She loved spending time with her family and friends and her beloved dog, Roxy. Kay will be remembered by all for her spirited personality and infectious smile.

In addition to parents, Kay is preceded in death by her stepfather, Jim Dunlap; and a sister, Doris Jean Gatrell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Maxine (& Don) Holmes of Canton, Mabel Brunton of Florida, Elsie Dodd of Cambridge, and Chuck Little of Pleasant City; her children, Holly (& Kevin) Gadd of Cumberland, Danny (& April) Gatrell of Cambridge, Shawn (& Kelly) Warford of Byesville, Tammy Boyd (& Dave Hanes) of Cambridge, and Melissa (& Dave) Richmond of New Philadelphia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many friends. Kay never met a stranger.

No calling hours will be observed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
