Gladys A. Francis

Gladys A. Francis, 94, of Cambridge and also of Pembroke Pines FL, entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday (December 6, 2012) at the Red Carpet Health Care Center. Gladys was born May 9, 1918 in Lynn MA, daughter of the late Raymond F. Samora and Elizabeth (Khouri) Samora. Gladys and her husband, Cy Francis, operated many business establishments in Cambridge and Byesville for forty years, including the Cruise-In Theatre. She was an active member of Christ Our Light Parish. Gladys enjoyed crafts, puzzles, sending cards, and celebrating special occasions with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cy Francis; two brothers, Sarkis Samora and Raymond G. Samora; and a sister and brother-in-law, Victoria and George Nomey. She is survived by a devoted and loving sister, Becky Sullivan of Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Martha (Francis) Harris of Florida; six nephews, Fred Francis, Richard (Jan) Francis, David (Carole) Francis, Frank (Dee Dee) Francis, Michael Sullivan, and Raymond E. Samora; six nieces, Michelle Sullivan, Elaine Sullivan, Joanne (Angelo) Morlani, Robin Samora, Marla Farran, and Maria (Eugene) Duke; and many great-nieces & great-nephews. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with a rosary devotion service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday (December 10, 2012) at 1 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either St. Benedict Catholic School or Christ Our Light Parish, 701 Gomber Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
