Glenn Emerson Eltringham, 76, of Buffalo, died Friday (June 27, 2014) at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell, following several years of illness. He was born May 27, 1938, in Derwent, son of the late Sherman G. and Jesse L. (Murphy) Eltringham. Mr. Eltringham worked as an electrician for Hamilton Beach and E & M Heating and Cooling. He was a graduate of Byesville High School. He was a Protestant by faith and attended Four Square Church, and most recently attended Beckett Avenue Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Eltringham; a sister, Jesse Whetstone; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shirley (McKim) Eltringham, whom he married on June 30, 1978; four sons, Glenn (Vicki) Eltringham Jr. of Cambridge, Steven (Victoria) Eltringham of North Carolina, Jerry Eltringham of Miamisburg and Ernie Eltringham of St. Clairsville; four daughters, Joyce (Dave) Spires of Summerfield, Glenita (Ray) Figueroa of Miami, Ariz., Margaret (Tim) Argent of Coshocton and Carol (Keith) Plants of Buffalo; 39 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held Wednesday, July 2 at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey.
