Gloria Jean Singer, 63, of Cambridge, died Thursday (October 14, 2010) at her home. She was born July 29, 1947 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Raymond S. Singer and Dorothy (Williams) Singer. Miss Singer was an assembly line worker for March Electric and later Ameridial. She attended St. Paul AME Church. She loved reading, shopping, and spending time with family & friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter. She is survived by a brother, Taft Newsome of Columbus; many nieces and nephews, including nephew Shaman Newsome; a god-son, Justin Barkley, who is currently serving in the US Army; several cousins, including three special younger cousins, Gregory, Ivan Jr., and Taurean; three aunts, Ruth Edwards of Monroeville PA, Florine (& William) Hollins of North Vandergrift PA, and Marilyn Wilson of North Vandergrift PA, along with several other aunts & uncles; and a special friend, Bertha Lee Hollins of Cambridge. Family and friends may call on Wednesday (October 20, 2010) from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Randolph White officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date.
