Guy DeLong, 77, of Salesville, died Tuesday (March 27, 2007) at Genesis-Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville. He was born December 23, 1929 in Noble County, son of the late Joseph DeLong and Josephine (Carpenter) DeLong. Mr. DeLong retired in 1988 from the former Cambridge State Hospital after thirty-two years of service as the Food Department Manager. He also worked at Byesville I.G.A. for several years. He was a member of the Salesville United Methodist Church. He was a 1947 graduate of Lewisville High School and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of Columbus. Mr. DeLong was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Cambridge V.F.W. Post 2901 and Cambridge Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 386. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Cletus and Donnie; and three sisters, Dorothy, Beulah and Betty. He leaves his wife, Mona Jane (Stephen) DeLong of the home, whom he married on June 5, 1954; six sons, David (& Debra) DeLong of Senecaville, Douglas (& Rhonda) DeLong of Kimbolton, Darryl (& Sandra) DeLong of Salesville, Dennis DeLong of Salesville, Darren (& Kerry) DeLong of Cambridge and Dayle (& Shawna) DeLong of Parkersburg WV; a brother, Vance (& Rose) DeLong of Byesville; ten grandchildren, Kevin DeLong, Dawn (& Toni) Wheeler, Nichole (& Chris) Day, Dustin DeLong, Dominique DeLong, Karley DeLong, Taylar DeLong, Paige DeLong, Denise DeLong and Greyson DeLong; four step-grandchildren, Rachelle (& Pat) Gadd, Jo Dee (& Justin) DeMond, J. William (& Ashley) Kane and Madison Anderson of Parkersburg WV; three great-grandchildren, Haley DeLong, Chloe Wheeler and Emma Wheeler; three step-great-grandchildren, Ethan Kane, BreAnn McFarland and Tyler Dingus. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, CAMBRIDGE, where services will be held on Saturday (March 31, 2007) at 1 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Hogue and Rev. Carol Touvell officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salesville United Methodist Church.
