H. Clark Armstrong

July 21, 1918 — September 9, 2013

H. Clark Armstrong, 95, of Cambridge, died Monday (September 9, 2013) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born July 21, 1918 in Cambridge, son of the late Abraham Clark Armstrong and Ora L. (Boyd) Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong was the retired owner of Branthoover-Johnston. He served the Lord as a member of the First Christian Church of Cambridge for seventy-two years. He was a member of Cambridge Kiwanis Club and participated in the Living Word Outdoor Drama for many years. Mr. Armstrong was a WWII Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Armstrong, Mabel Sharples, and Blanche Drusedow. He is survived by his wife, June Elaine (Thomas) Armstrong, whom he married June 21, 1941; three daughters, Trudy (& James) Gibson of Cambridge, Jan (& Kim) Carnes of Westfield IN, and Kim (& Jeff) Hayes of Galena; nine grandchildren, Chris (& Cindy) Saltz of Chicago, Doug (& Amy) Saltz of Waterville, Ben (& Carmen) Carnes, Luke Carnes, and Sam Carnes all of Westfield IN, Kellen Hayes, Kayleigh Hayes, Jacob Hayes, and Josh Hayes all of Galena; a step-grandchild, Jason (& Kim) Gibson of Bremerton WA; four great-grandchildren, Ashtyn (Camille) Saltz, Abigail Saltz, Lauren Saltz, and Ashley Gibson; and an expected great-grandchild, Lillian June Carnes. Private interment was held for the family on Tuesday (September 10, 2013) at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. The family will receive friends on Wednesday (September 11, 2013) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Cambridge, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Deborah Bolen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Armstrong's name to the First Christian Church, 1127 Beatty Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
