Harlan Allen Adkins

Harlan Adkins, 92, passed away Sunday (May 12, 2013) at Victorian Oaks in Cambridge, Ohio. Having traveled extensively, Mr. Adkins felt his life was complete. He often said, "Death was just a gate that everyone must open into a beautiful new world." He spent many years as a former minister/radio evangelist and was an international union representative for the URW. He had great humor, compassion for others and love for his family. Other favorite verses of Mr. Adkins included: "God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. He put His arms around him, and whispered, 'Come with me.'" (Anonymous Poem); and "A golden heart stopped beating..." He was preceded in death by his wife (Jean) of 52 years; a daughter, Gail; and a granddaughter, Christina Cocciolone. He is survived by his three sons, Ron (Gatha) Adkins, Don (Linda) Adkins and Rod (Jennifer) Adkins. He is also survived by grandchildren, Mark (Cheryl) Adkins of Cambridge, Aaron (Colleen) Adkins of Columbus, Daniel (Marcy) Adkins of Newcomerstown, Tammy (Jason) Roberts of Akron, Katherine (Jason) Lucas, and Kristine Wingard; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn Adkins of Cambridge, Riley and Maggie Adkins of Columbus, Madison Roberts, Tyler Roberts, Ryan Roberts, Johnathen Lucas, Alexandria Lucas, and Kaliah Wingard. The family would like to thank the personnel at Victorian Oaks for their kindness and care. Per his cremation request, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate to the Heart Association.
