Harold M. Robinson, 92, of Quaker City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at his daughter Resa's home in Plain City, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Harold was born on October 9, 1929, in Old Washington, Ohio, to the late Ross and Bertha Robinson. He graduated from Old Washington High School and went on to attend Columbus Business School. On September 12, 1954, he married Monna Jean Lingo of Quaker City. Harold ran the family business, Lingo Hardware, for 45 years until the couple sold the store in 1999 and retired shortly thereafter. In addition to his work at the hardware store, Harold served as fire chief for the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department for 13 years and as a trustee for Friends Cemetery from 1976 to 2022. Harold and Monna were named Grand Marshals of the Ohio Hills Folk Festival in 1988 in honor of their years of service to the community.
Harold was a devoted husband, caring for his wife after she suffered a massive stroke which left her partially paralyzed. He was also a devoted father, always making time for his children — from boating adventures and deer hunting to long talks on the porch swing. He was a devoted grandfather — so proud of his four grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law. In addition to family, Harold loved spending time working on the family farm, studying nature, and volunteering at Friends Cemetery, where he spent countless hours working to keep the cemetery beautiful.
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Monna Jean Robinson, who passed away in 2008, by his sisters Grace Leamer and Marian Wood and brother John Robinson, and by an infant son, Kirby Lee Robinson, who passed away in 1963.
Harold is survived by his son Lee Robinson and wife Julie of Lore City, Ohio, and two daughters, Resa Lynn of Plain City and her husband Daniel, and Julie Pickering of Sunbury, Ohio, and her husband Charles: grandchildren Aaron Lynn and his wife Danielle of Fairborn, Ohio, Austin Lynn and his wife Autumn of Cedarville, Ohio, Ross Robinson of Lore City and Alex Lynn of Plain City along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
