Harold A. Sivard, 84, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (October 15, 2013) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1929 in Cambridge, son of the late Paul Sivard and Edna (Wesley) Sivard. Mr. Sivard had worked at Continental Can, RCA, and The Daily Jeffersonian. He also worked for thirty-four years in the occupational therapy department of the former Cambridge State Hospital. He was a 1947 graduate of Old Washington High School, where he played basketball. He was a member of the Beckett United Methodist Church. He was a man of faith. He was an excellent woodworker and loved hunting & fishing. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Mr. Sivard was a hardworking, kind, and generous man who loved his family. He will be missed dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Becker) Sivard, who died July 10, 2003. They were married June 2, 1950. He is survived by a son, James (& Mary) Sivard of Byesville; a daughter, Sharon (& Terry) Callihan of Cambridge; a brother, Lewis (& Dorothy) Sivard of California; two sisters, Martha Cherry and Wanda Hill both of Cambridge; five grandchildren, Greg (& Pam) Korte of Wilmington DE, Larry (& Julie) Gibson Jr. of Pulaski VA, Mark Sivard of Byesville, Jason (& Kimberly) Sivard of Byesville, and Theresa (& Steven) Steele of Cambridge; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Sivard, Dalton Sivard, Kaitlyne Sivard, Airionna Steele, Sophie Gibson, Gannon Gibson, and Evelyn Gibson; several cousins, including Betty Sivard of Cambridge; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Friday (October 18, 2013) at 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Beckett United Methodist Church, PO Box 812, Cambridge OH 43725.
