Harold Eugene Unklesbay, 87, formerly of Cambridge, died Saturday (May 10, 2008) at the Beckett House at New Concord. He was born on May 23, 1920 in Cambridge, son of the late Hysel Fulton Unklesbay and Elda Marie (Foraker) Unklesbay. Mr. Unklesbay was a civil service driver at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for twenty years and an eight-year member of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII. He was a member of American Legion Post 87. Mr. Unklesbay received two certificates from the Forestry Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, a sister, three half-brothers, a niece and an aunt. He leaves his wife, Ava E. (Stanley) Unklesbay, whom he married on July 1, 1947; two sons, Stanley Unklesbay of Logan and Charles Unklesbay of Cambridge; three daughters, Nancy Kuhlenberg of Loveland, Teresa Crane of Santee CA and Rose Unklesbay of Cambridge; a sister, Peg Basil of Peoria AZ; nine grandchildren, Jody Unklesbay, Scott Unklesbay, Mike Kuhlenberg, Adam Kuhlenberg, Shalana Crane, Shawn Crane, Stanley Unklesbay Jr., Gina Unklesbay and Angel Rethman; and seven great-grandchildren. No calling hours will be observed. Graveside services will be held on Friday (May 16, 2008) at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
