Hazel "Eileen" Mathers

January 13, 1941 — September 24, 2012

Hazel "Eileen" Mathers, 71, of Cambridge passed away Monday (September 24, 2012) at Country View Assisted Living after a long battle with dementia. She was born January 13, 1941 in New Concord and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Maggie (Faulkner) Hardy. Mrs. Mathers owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband for 40 years and was a graduate of New Concord High School. She enjoyed horseback riding, gardening and walking. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Clyde; son-in-law Tom Morris; sisters-in-law, Marg Hardy and Shirley Hardy. She is survived by her husband Carl Mathers whom she married February 8, 1964; one son Henry (Terry) Mathers of Cambridge; three daughters, Vonda (Ted) Tipple, Sue Ann (Dick) Schultz and Carla Morris (& Ralph Taylor) all of Cambridge; one sister Sue (Bill) Ault of Chandlersville; three brothers, Gerald (Gerry) Hardy, Bill Hardy and Russell (Betty) Hardy all of New Concord; five grandchildren, Josh (Jessica) Tipple, Jessica Freeman, Justin Morris, Maggie and Luke Schultz; five step-grandchildren, Andrew Taylor, Rich (Rachel) Oaklief, Dustin, Miranda and Hayliegh Dalpiaz; four great grandchildren, Ethan and Ryleigh Freeman, Ava Tipple and Olivia Wells. Her family wishes to give special thanks to Country View and Hospice for their wonderful care. Memorial contributions in her name are requested to Country View Assisted Living, 62825 County Home Rd., Lore City, Ohio 43755. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge where services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. Jim Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
