Hazel L. Morris-Thompson-Ayers, 89, of Byesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at her home. Hazel was born on August 31, 1935, in Byesville, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Maude (Akison) Morris. Hazel was a 1953 graduate of Byesville High School and was a lifelong homemaker. She loved playing bingo, crocheting, traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, William "Ben" Thompson, her second husband, James Ayers, three brothers, Robert, Jimmy, and Bill Morris, two sisters, Linda Huffstutler and Mildred Dailey, a son, Gary E. Thompson, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a son-in-law, John A. Berger Sr. Hazel is survived by two sons, Bill Thompson of Cambridge and Ken (Rebecca) Thompson of Byesville, two daughters, Barbara Allen of Cambridge and Brenda Berger of Cambridge, fifteen grandchildren, and forty-two great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 11AM-1PM with the service to immediately follow at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with Pastor Kris Bright officiating. Burial will follow at Kennonsburg Cemetery.
