Herman Lucas Jr., 86, of Cambridge, died Friday (November 16, 2007) at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born on June 24, 1921 in Cambridge, son of the late Herman and Florence (Wagstaff) Lucas. He was a member of the 10th and Clairmont Church of Christ. Mr. Lucas enjoyed coin collecting and hunting. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan; and three brothers, Clyde, Walter and Jess. He leaves his wife, Mary Lois (Neuhart) Lucas of the home, whom he married on March 25, 1950; a brother, Wayne (& Norma) Lucas of Cambridge; a sister, Kate (& Jim) Smith of Old Washington; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Tuesday (November 20, 2007) at 1 p.m. with Evangelist Bruce Daugherty officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with graveside military services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
