Hilda Blow Hansen, 97, passed away Wednesday (June 13, 2012) at the Beckett House in New Concord, where she has been a resident for the past six years. She was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on July 5, 1914, to Jane and William Henry Blow. Hilda was one of 10 children and spent her adult life in the Camden, New Jersey area as well as in Jane Lew, West Virginia and Cambridge. She married Raymond Le Clair Hansen at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania on March 31, 1934. She worked as a floral arranger and in retail sales in both New Jersey and Ohio. She was involved in service to church and community having been a board of education member and president, member and president of the New Jersey Women's Club, Bible study leader and an active member of various area churches and former Golden Sixties participant. Hilda loved knitting, sewing, quilting, gardening, flower arranging, reading, and traveling. Her joy in life was using her talents to create beautiful handmade treasures to share with family members who have been blessed with her gifts. She was preceded in death by: parents, siblings, husband Raymond (1963), daughter Janet Brodwater (2011) and son-in-law Bill Brodwater (2007). She is survived by one son, Drew Hansen (Barbara) of Norwich; sister, Betty Livingston of Runnemede, New Jersey; and brother-in-law, Tom McDonnell of Gloucester, New Jersey. Surviving grandchildren include: Rusty Brodwater (Linda), Gary Brodwater (Melinda) and Wendy Skinner (Jon) all of Jane Lew, WV; David Hansen (Jessica) Fort Collins, Colorado; Amy Bartel (Lawrence) of Old Forge, New York; Annie Hansen of Norwich; 15 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also on Saturday from 10:00-10:30 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Services celebrating Hilda Hansen's life will be held Saturday (June 23, 2012) at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, with Rev. Keith Leach officiating.
